Mitchell Airport proposes incentives to attract air serviceDec 02, 2013
A new idea is being considered by General Mitchell International Airport that would attract new nonstop flights to and from Milwaukee. A resolution was recently introduced to Milwaukee County Supervisors that would waive certain fees and offer marketing funds to airlines that agree to provide new nonstop service at Mitchell. This proposal represents a shift in the tactics used by airport management as they take a more active role in addressing air service. Embracing A Changing World

There is a saying that goes “When you are through changing, you are through.” This lesson can be applied to our personal lives, though it bears a particular significance when considering the effect that the global economy has had on the Midwest. Over the past 50 years, the manufacturing jobs that supported Midwestern society and defined our culture have either disappeared or moved overseas. We’ve established “Aerotropolis Milwaukee” as the brand name for our effort and have been making presentations about the concept, its rationale and potential benefits for southeastern Wisconsin. Members of our boards of directors have been educating their contacts as well, there has been more media coverage, elected officials and M7 are talking about it plus the aerotropolis website www.aerotropolismke.com is now open to the public. Progress is evidenced by CARW’s members in a recent survey ranking Aerotropolis Milwaukee as #7 on a list of real estate projects that would generate the greatest ROI in the community.
